When Pastor E.A. Adeboye stepped into the sanctuary at Dominion Chapel in Stafford, the congregation shook with loudening praise music, waving hands and applause. The 1,000 or so worshipers dropped to their knees and joined the Nigerian Pentecostal leader in prayer, spoken in a calm but confident tone, promising blessings to them.

At the University of Port Harcourt, he made a first class in Economics in 1984, won the MKO Abiola National Essay Competition two years after, which earned him a job at the African Concord as a journalist. He later moved into banking (1989) and a few years after proceeded to the United States where he bagged an MBA at the Ivy League Columbia University, New York in 1992.

A US based Nigerian has made history at the Princeton Theological Seminary by completing a Ph.D. programme in two years and making a distinction while at it. Nimi Wariboko, a Pastor, created the record at the College when he completed the programme in Divinity in two years, instead of average four to five years that it normally takes.

You may never have heard of E. A. Adeboye, but the pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God is one of the most successful preachers in the world. He boasts that his church has outposts in 110 countries. He has 14,000 branches—claiming 5 million members—in his home country of Nigeria alone. There are 360 RCCG churches in Britain, and about the same number in U.S. cities like Chicago, Dallas, and Tallahassee, Fla. Adeboye says he has sent missionaries to China and such Islamic countries as Pakistan and Malaysia.
