Text: Deuteronomy 32:11-14
I welcome you to the second month of the Year of “Songs of Victory” in Jesus’ mighty Name. His Word for February is like that of January – instead of repeating Himself, He is asking you to begin to soar. Soaring you will do in every phase of your life, in Jesus’ Name.
Message:
In the text for this month’s message, it is amazing to see so many wonderful references about the eagle. Mountains, rivers, storms, clouds, and the rain pose no problem for the eagle because it has strong wings. No wonder the LORD spoke so much about the eagle in the Bible, probably more than any other bird known to man. No wonder He called you an eagle, the king of all birds.
In addition, reading through these passages of Scripture, one can see that it is the Grace of God that saves Israel and saves us as believers in our present day walk with the LORD. Salvation, then and now is by the grace of God alone! This is evident in Exodus 19:4, where God reminded the nation of Israel about their rescue from slavery by His great strength and brought them to Himself. Very important. It was not their strength, intellect, connections or military might that liberated them. No! As God rescued the Israelites from 430 years of slavery in Egypt, so He desires to rescue us out of our sin into eternal life with Him. If we will turn away from our sinful lives and ask Him to save us, He will do so.
Our Father God is an Eagle: An eagle cannot beget a vulture. Like begets like. “As many as received Christ, He gave power to become Sons of God” (Jn. 1:12.) If God our Father is an Eagle and we are born again children of God, we cannot be ducks. The Eagle is a symbol for God and of Deity. The grandeur and grace of the eagle in flight are well known. Even at rest, the eagle’s size, power, shoulders, and furrowed brow give it a regal pose. In Ezekiel 1:10 & 10:4, deity is represented by the face of an eagle. In Revelation 4:7,14, deity is pictured as a flying eagle. The eagle is the jet fighter of the bird family.
We have an Eagle Savior: “For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the LORD your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; Him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever He shall say unto you” (Acts 3:22). Jesus came as our Eagle savior and Hebrews 2:11 records that, “He is not ashamed to call us brethren;” we are his siblings. There is an eagle in us and we are ordained to soar in the sky, not struggle on earth. From today, receive impartation to soar! Romans 8:29-30,” For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.”
We Are Eagles By Redemption:
1. Redeemed to Walk in Dominion: Genesis 1:28; Numbers 23:23; Isaiah 8:8.
2. Ordained to Be Salt of The Earth and Light of The World: Matthew 5:6; Obadiah 1:21.
3. We Are Redeemed as Kings to Reign on Earth: Revelation 5:9-10.
4. We Are Redeemed to Be Fruitful, Not Barren: Psalms 128:1-5; Isaiah 5:1-13; Psalms 1:3.
5. We Are Redeemed to Be Greater Than All Old Testament Saints: Matthew 11:11.
6. We Are to Manifest Seven Redemptive Treasures: Revelation 5:12 says:”…Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.”
7. We Are Supernatural Beings: Psalms 82:6.
Characteristics of Eagles that we must demonstrate as Believers:
a) They are creatures satisfied with few neighbors: If an eagle must keep company, it would be with fellow eagles that can fly as high and as fast as itself. Eagles typically have no business with any other bird, flightless or otherwise. Most of the time, the great eagles fly alone. You, as an eagle must be selective of the company you keep. You need to be in covenant only with people with the same burden, vision and passion as yourself. Chickens, owls, bats, and ostriches cannot understand nor flow with them.
b) They are creatures accustomed to deep quietness: Because eagles most often fly alone and soar to such great heights, they are accustomed to deep [unbroken] quietness (Isaiah 30:15; Job 39:27-29). The LORD expects us to come up high like the eagle, but also to learn to dwell before Him in deep quietness so we can hear His still small Voice speak to us (Isaiah 40:31).
c) They are creatures accustomed to the “Ways of the Wind”: The eagle does not do a lot of flying as it predominately travels by soaring on wind gusts traveling upward where it desires to go (Isaiah 40:31). To do this effectively, the eagle must learn to study the wind and its patterns, which means it must learn to wait and watch (Psalms 27:13-14).
d) They are creatures that live above the clouds: When pursued, the eagle flies vertically skyward, heading for the sun. There are two major reasons for this tactic. One, it is heading home to where it lives above the clouds (Psalms 121:1-2). Two, not many birds can look directly at the sun like the eagle can. If they attempt to, they go blind, which renders them useless as a predator to the eagle who does not break stride.
e) They are creatures that sight the rising of the sun before others: Eagles sight the rising of the sun before others because they dwell above the clouds. The rising of the sun is important, it’s a signifier of a new day. The LORD Jesus will return without announcement and only those who are on the lookout for His coming will see Him (John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; Matthew 24:27).
f) They are creatures that dominate huge expanses of land (territory): An eagle’s outlined territory is useful for sourcing food for itself and its young. It is an efficient and fearsome hunter (Job 9:26). The eagle has very sharp eyes which can see 5 miles: forward, sideways and backwards. It is distinctly gifted to see the size of a quarter from about 5 miles away. The territory is also needed for the training of its young when the time comes for them to leave the nest (Genesis 18:19; Proverbs 22:6). The young are dropped from great heights in the coaching process. The eagle prefers that no predator runs off with its young.
g) They are creatures that must not be eaten yet they can eat any animal: Of all the LORD God has given man to eat, the eagle is not one of them (Deuteronomy 14:12). The LORD has set you apart as one consecrated for His use and glory alone. This does not mean the enemy will not desire to kill, steal, and destroy you; it simply means you have the assurance from the Sovereign One that He Is in control of all that concerns you (Psalms 105:15; 2 Kings 1:10).
As you seek God with passion, you will not eat leftovers or filthy things. God will make you to rise like an eagle in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER POINTS:
- Father, let the world see Your greatness, power, glory and mighty acts in my life in Jesus’ Name. “Ye have seen… (Exodus 19:4)”
- Father, as the eagles beareth her young away from danger; deliver me from danger, enslavement and bondage.
- Father, as the eagles soar upon the current of winds, let me overcome every restriction to my progress in Jesus’ Name.
- Father, as the eagles overcome the power of storms, I overcome every storm on the path of my destiny, by a mighty act of God, in Jesus’ Name.
- Father, as the eagles beareth her young ones and protect them from danger in her nest:
- a. I command divine protection over my life in Jesus’ Name.
- b. I command divine provision over my life in Jesus’ Name.
- c. I command angelic care over my life in Jesus’ Name.
- Father, in the order of deliverance from Egypt, I receive redemption from calamity, sorrow and disappointment.
- Father, let me soar high like an eagle.
