“And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18, NKJV).
Introduction & Context
I welcome you to the month of September, a month that you shall remember. It is the first of the ‘…ember’ months in the year of a Brand-New Beginning. This month, the LORD is connecting you to key helpers and marketplace platforms that will demand your skills and reward your diligence. Nations shall come to your light, and your gates shall remain continually open to receive the wealth of the Gentiles for Kingdom advancement! You will remember this month with joy and gladness: open doors, destiny lifters, and encouragers. According to Deuteronomy 33:7, the works of your hands shall be sufficient for you, and God will send you help, in Jesus’ mighty Name.
A father tried to teach his young son about the value of money and kingdom stewardship. He gave the boy two crisp dollar bills and said, “Son, one of these is for ice cream, and the other belongs to God for the church offering. You get to decide which is which.” The boy beamed, grabbed the money, and skipped out the front door. A few seconds later, he tripped on the porch step, and one of the dollar bills fell right through a narrow sewer grate. The boy picked himself up, looked down at the drain, looked up to heaven, and said with a sigh, “Well, Lord… there goes your dollar!” We laugh because it hits close to home. Many of us treat God’s economy as an afterthought rather than our divine foundation.
In Deuteronomy chapter 8, Moses is addressing the children of Israel on the border of the Promised Land. They were moving from a season of supernatural manna, where food dropped from heaven, into a season of supernatural management, where they would farm the land, build cities, and manage vast resources. Moses issued a stern warning: do not enter your season of abundance and boast that you accomplished it all on your own (Deuteronomy 8:17-18).

“God gives us the POWER to create wealth, teaches us the PRINCIPLES to multiply it, and gives us the PURPOSE of using it to advance His Kingdom.”
Deuteronomy 8:18 does not promise effortless, lottery-ticket riches. It declares that the ultimate source of our capacity to produce wealth is God. Therefore, true covenant wealth must produce humility, gratitude, disciplined stewardship, and generosity; never pride or materialism.
The 5 Ps of Covenant Wealth
1. POWER — The Divine Source
Scripture states that God gives us the ability or power to get wealth. The Hebrew word used here is Koach, which means capacity, strength, vigor, and efficiency.
- God doesn’t drop bags of gold from heaven; He deposits ideas, creative capacity, sound judgment, health, and relational favor.
- Every invention, successful enterprise, and sound investment begins with divine inspiration.

When God gives you divine power, He gives you vision, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to meet practical needs in the marketplace.
Reflective Question: Have you been asking God for money, or for the wisdom, ideas, and strength to produce value?
2. PRINCIPLES — The Discipline of Multiplication
Power without principles leads to wreckage. God works through spiritual laws and practical economic disciplines. To produce wealth that endures, we must follow Biblical wisdom:
- Diligent Work: “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” — Proverbs 10:4 (NIV)
- Mastery of Skill: “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” — Proverbs 22:29 (ESV/KJV)
- Strategic Planning: “ The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.“ — Proverbs 21:5 (NKJV)
- Diversified Investment: “Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.” — Ecclesiastes 11:1–2 (NIV)
- Uncompromising Integrity: “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” — Proverbs 11:1 (NIV)

- Consider the life of George Washington Carver. Born into slavery, he didn’t pray for easy money; rather, he asked God to reveal the secrets of nature. God gave him insight into the humble peanut, and from that divine idea combined with scientific discipline, Carver developed over 300 practical products—revitalizing the entire agricultural economy of the American South. Principle coupled with divine capacity changes nations.
3. PROSPERITY — Fruitfulness Over Materialism
God desires His children to be fruitful and productive stewards of the earth. Prosperity in the Kingdom of God is not about hoarding; it is about resources flowing through clean hands.
- Tool vs. Idol: Prosperity must never become our master; it must remain a tool for divine service.
- The Danger of the “Bigger Barns”: In Luke 12, Jesus spoke of a rich farmer whose ground produced abundantly. His mistake was not in being productive; it was in his hoarding mindset. God called him a fool because he was rich toward himself, but not toward God.

4. PURPOSE — The Covenant Assignment
God gives wealth to establish His covenant.
- God-given wealth carries God-given responsibility.

- Wealth is not a measure of personal worth but of stewardship capacity.

- In Kingdom economics, your resources define your level of servant leadership. When God sees that your heart beats for His agenda, He makes your hands a conduit for His provisions.
5. PARTNERSHIP — Becoming a Kingdom Financier
The ultimate destination of covenant wealth is Kingdom expansion. We are called to be active partners with heaven by funding:
- Global and local evangelism
- Church plants and ministry infrastructure
- Practical community benevolence and humanitarian aid
- Uplifting the poor, the widow, and the orphan
Biblical Illustration:
In Luke 8:1–3, the ministry of Jesus Christ was supported and financed by women of means-Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna- who “provided…out of their resources.” Even the ministry of our Lord Jesus utilized faithful partners to ensure practical needs were met on the field.

God never intended for His people to live with a scarcity mindset, nor did He intend for us to pursue riches for self-aggrandizement. He gives us the power to create value, instructs us in practical principles, blesses our work with prosperity, assigns that prosperity a holy purpose, and invites us into divine partnership.

Beloved, you can’t drive your car into eternity, and you can’t cash a check in heaven. But through covenant stewardship, you can send your treasure ahead by investing in God’s people, God’s work, and God’s Kingdom today!
