“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.” — Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV)
Welcome to November 2026, the 11th month and the second-to-last month of the year! As we approach the end of the year, we celebrate the Person, Presence, and power of the Holy Spirit. November reminds us that God is not finished with us yet! For its’ “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the LORD of hosts — Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV). I decree that the Holy Spirit will empower you to accomplish what your strength could not do in ten months, before year-end, in Jesus’ mighty Name!
INTRODUCTION: YOU CANNOT DRIVE ON AN EMPTY TANK!
A pastor bought a beautiful, new, and fully equipped car. One afternoon, the dashboard displayed a warning: “LOW FUEL!”The pastor smiled and declared, “I reject every negative report, in Jesus’ Name!” He continued driving until the car suddenly stopped. He began speaking in tongues, laying hands on the steering wheel, and commanding the vehicle to move. Nothing happened! A mechanic arrived and asked, “Pastor, when did you last fill your tank?” The pastor replied, “Last Sunday!” The mechanic smiled and said, “Pastor, yesterday’s fuel cannot carry today’s journey when your tank is empty!”
Beloved, you may possess great talents, education, connections, and a divine calling, but without the Holy Spirit, you cannot fulfill God’s purpose. Our key text, Ephesians 5:18, commands us to “be filled with the Spirit.” The Greek expression conveys continuous action – keep on being filled! Spiritual infilling is not a one-time achievement but a life of continual dependence upon God.
I. KNOWING THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WHY WE NEED HIM
The Holy Spirit Is God. Matthew 28:19. He is the third Person of the Trinity, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son.He is not an emotion, an influence, or an impersonal force; rather, He is a divine Person!
- The Holy Spirit Is Our Helper: John 14:16. Jesus promised another Helper who would abide with believers forever. The Greek word Parakletos means “called alongside to help.” He is our: Comforter in sorrow. Counselor in difficult decisions. Teacher when wisdom is lacking. Strengthener in weakness. You are never helpless when you are yielded to the Helper!
- The Holy Spirit Is Our Source of Power: Acts 1:8. Human strength cannot accomplish divine assignments. We need supernatural empowerment.
- The Holy Spirit Dwells in Believers: 1 Corinthians 6:19. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. However, having the Spirit dwelling within us and continually yielding to His fullness are different realities. The issue is not merely having the Holy Spirit, but how much of one’s life is surrendered to His control.
II. ELIJAH – ARISE AND EAT AGAIN!
In 1 Kings 19:5–8, Elijah had just won an extraordinary victory on Mount Carmel, where he confronted 450 prophets of Baal. Yet shortly afterward, Jezebel threatened to kill him.The mighty prophet became afraid, exhausted, and discouraged. He fled into the wilderness and asked God to let him die. Instead, an angel ministered to him twice with physical food and rest in between. This ensured his strength was renewed for the journey ahead (1 Kings 19:7). After this, Elijah traveled forty days and forty nights to Mount Horeb. His physical nourishment illustrates our continuing need for God’s sustaining provision.
Three Lessons from Elijah
- Yesterday’s victory does not eliminate today’s need for renewal, nor does it exempt us from today’s spiritual battles.
- Greater assignments require renewed strength.
- God provides strength for the journey He appoints.
Beloved, the journey ahead is too great for human strength! Your family, ministry, and Kingdom assignment require divine empowerment. Arise and eat again! Pray again! Study the word again! Seek God again! Be filled again!
III. FOUR REASONS WE MUST CONTINUALLY BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
- Fresh Oil Keeps Your Spiritual Lamp Burning. Luke 12:35: “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.” A lamp is not useful merely because it burned yesterday. It must continue burning daily! In the parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1–13), the emphasis is on readiness for Christ’s return.
Three Things That Dim Our Spiritual Light:
(a) Prayerlessness: Neglecting communion with God.
(b) Neglecting Scripture: Starving our spiritual lives.
(c) Compromising With Sin: Grieving the Holy Spirit.
The secret of a burning lamp is continuous fellowship with God!
2. Fresh Oil Gives Victory Over Sin and Darkness. Galatians 5:16: “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Human determination alone cannot guarantee victory over temptation. We need the Holy Spirit.
Examples:
- Samson — Power Without Character. Judges 16:20. Samson possessed extraordinary supernatural strength but repeatedly compromised with sin.
- Joseph — Character Before Comfort. Genesis 39:9. Joseph fled temptation because he valued holiness above temporary pleasure.
Three Lessons:
- Character must accompany power.
- Consecration must accompany anointing.
- Obedience must accompany spiritual authority.
Power Without Purity Is Dangerous!
3. Fresh Oil Empowers Us for Kingdom Exploits. Acts 1:8: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” God has called us to win souls, make disciples, plant churches, and advance His Kingdom.
Examples:
Peter — From Fear to Boldness. Before Pentecost, Peter denied Jesus three times. After receiving the Holy Spirit, he preached boldly, and approximately 3,000 souls were added to the Church (Acts 2:41, 4:8, 4:31). Yesterday’s Pentecost does not eliminate the need for today’s infilling!
Fresh infilling produces:
(a) Boldness to proclaim Christ.
(b) Power to serve effectively.
(c) Grace for Kingdom advancement.
4. Fresh Oil Gives Divine Direction and Strength “To Finish Well.” Romans 8:14: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Life presents decisions concerning family, ministry, business, and relationships. We need the Holy Spirit not only for power but also for direction!
Examples:
- Paul and His Missionary Team. Acts 16:6–10. Paul intended to preach in Asia and Bithynia, but the Holy Spirit redirected him. He later received the Macedonian vision, which guided his missionary journey (Ephesians 3:16). The Holy Spirit strengthens us with power.
- Finishing Well: 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”Don’t become yesterday’s champion and today’s spiritual casualty.
IV. HOW TO REMAIN CONTINUALLY FILLED
Our key text, Ephesians 5:18, says, “…but be filled with the Spirit.” Keep on being filled!
Five Practical Keys:
- Daily Prayer (Jude 1:20). Prayer maintains communion with God.
- Daily Feeding on God’s Word (Colossians 3:16). God’s Word nourishes our faith.
- Holiness and Obedience (Galatians 5:16). Walk in the Spirit and reject deliberate compromise with sin.
- Worship and Thanksgiving (Ephesians 5:19–20). Maintain a heart of praise and gratitude.
- Continual Surrender (Galatians 5:25). Yield daily to His direction.
Remember: THE WORD feeds your faith. PRAYER deepens your fellowship. HOLINESS protects your testimony. OBEDIENCE demonstrates your surrender. THE HOLY SPIRIT empowers your journey!
CONCLUSION: ARISE AND EAT AGAIN!
Beloved, as you remember Elijah’s experience, God is speaking to somebody today. You prayed yesterday? Pray again! You fasted last month? Seek God again! You studied Scripture last year? Feast on the word again! You encountered the Holy Spirit years ago? Be filled again! Yesterday’s breakthrough must never become an excuse for today’s spiritual complacency!
Three Final Declarations:
- My lamp will not go out!
- My oil will not run dry!
- By the power of the Holy Spirit, I will finish strong!
Final Prophetic Blessing:May the Almighty God fill you afresh with His Holy Spirit!May your spiritual fire never go out!May you receive divine strength for every assignment, wisdom for every decision, and victory over every temptation! You will not become a former champion! You will not become a spiritual casualty! You will finish your race with joy, in Jesus’ mighty Name!
Final Charge: Keep your lamp burning! Keep your oil fresh! Keep your eyes on Jesus! The journey ahead is great—arise and eat again! Hallelujah!
Prayers

- Every demonic leak draining my spiritual stamina, prayer life, and altar of consecration, dry up by fire, in the Name of Jesus (1 Peter 5:8).
- Power to run the race set before me without spiritual exhaustion or weariness, fall upon me now, in the Name of Jesus (1 Kings 19:7).
- Holy Ghost fire, purge every secret compromise and carnality contending with the Presence of God in my vessel, in the Name of Jesus (Ephesians 4:30).
